P for Performance announces ‘What to do with Art’

What to do with art_ P for Performance

P for Performance is pleased to announce a fourth performative event: “What to do with art” by Esther de Vlam: a tree hugging encounter on Sunday afternoon. The ‘picnic like’ event takes place between 15 and 16.30 in Het Park. The host will provide the food, beverage and seating.

Esther de Vlam is an artist based in Rotterdam. She is interested in how we begin to make something from the bare minimum. How do we depart from zero? She investigates how the threshold of normality is crossed and a new position is maintained; how a crisis (a war, or poverty, for instance) becomes normality, even taken for granted. Her works takes the form of interventions and installations where everyday objects undergo a transformation.

Among other places, you could have seen her work at: Choreography for ‘4 F-ER’ Performance by Maria Pask, Studio Voltaire, London, November 15, 2008 & Frascati, Amsterdam,2009 ; “My Travels with Barry” TENT, Rotterdam, 2008; Performance ‘Choir’, Kunstvlaai, Westergasfabriek, Amsterdam, 2008; Performance ‘Light Square’ Gemaakt, “Werk in Uitvoering”, Rotterdamse Schouwburg , Rotterdam, 2008; Costumes for ‘Beautiful City’ – a project by Maria Pask, Sculpture Project Munster, 2007; Video-installation ‘Polaroid’, Groupshow “Temporary City”, Peperkoekfabriek, Lokeren, Belgium, 2007; Performance ‘Birds and the Bees’, In cooperation with Maria Pask, (If I can’t dance I don’t want to be part of your revolution, Part 2) De Appel, Amsterdam, 2007
